Azeroth Survivors Tier List (v0.139.0)

All nine classes ranked for two practical jobs: finishing a first clear safely and farming the endgame quickly.

The short answer

Independent editorial grades for v0.139.0, checked 2026-11-02.

Best all-round

  • Hunter

A flexible ranged damage dealer with a free pet and one of the cleanest endgame plans.

  • Mage

The fastest and most explosive caster, with the least room for mistakes.

  • Warlock

A damage-over-time class that trades a slow opening for one of the strongest late-run engines.

Safest first clear

  • Paladin

New players, unfamiliar stages and runs where finishing matters more than speed.

  • Druid

Players who want a smooth first clear, self-healing and a choice between caster and animal forms.

Fastest endgame clear

  • Hunter

The defensive kit is thin and the seven-skill pool offers fewer emergency answers.

  • Mage

Low health, no pet and no built-in healing make every misplaced step costly.

  • Warlock

The opening is slower, and pet or positioning mistakes can leave little room to recover.

These are guide grades, not measured DPS results. They separate first-clear safety from endgame clear speed.

All nine classes

The overall grade balances safety, clear speed and the amount of control the class gives the player. Separate first-clear and endgame grades show where those priorities pull in different directions.

Paladin

Melee · starts with Consecration

Overall A
First clear
S
Endgame speed
A

The safest first-clear class, built around shields, healing and a one-time death save.

Watch out: Its defensive tools are stronger than its damage ceiling, so clear speed falls behind top casters.

Warrior

Melee · starts with Cleave

Overall A
First clear
B
Endgame speed
A

The sturdiest melee class, with straightforward cleave and a low-aim damage plan.

Watch out: Melee positioning and the lack of healing keep it behind the safest defensive classes.

Shaman

Hybrid · starts with Lightning Bolt

Overall A
First clear
A
Endgame speed
A

A flexible hybrid that can build around Chain Lightning, totems or melee procs.

Watch out: Elemental and Enhancement ask for different positioning, and both start slower than the top casters.

Priest

Ranged · starts with Smite

Overall B
First clear
A
Endgame speed
B

A safe, sustain-focused caster whose strength is surviving long enough to finish.

Watch out: Damage ramps slowly, so dense packs take longer than they do for the top damage classes.

Druid

Hybrid · starts with Wrath

Overall A
First clear
S
Endgame speed
B

A forgiving first-clear hybrid with healing, roots and several distinct forms.

Watch out: Caster and Feral plans solve different problems, and splitting points between them weakens both.

Rogue

Melee · starts with Sinister Strike

C
Endgame speed
B

A fast melee burst specialist with a high ceiling and a very small margin for error.

Watch out: Low survival, a six-skill pool and melee range punish every bad engagement.

S: exceptional for the task. A: strong with a clear trade-off. B: situational. C: specialist and high risk.

Class by class

Each note explains what the class does well, what it asks of the player and why its two grades can differ.

Hunter

Ranged · starts with Auto Shot

Overall
S
First clear
A
Endgame
S
Hunter build guide

Hunter keeps distance while the pet absorbs attention. Auto Shot and Multi-Shot cover steady damage, while Aimed Shot gives the route a focused answer to bosses and elites.

Its damage plan is easy to understand and works from the start. The class is not the safest first-clear pick because it has limited healing and few defensive tools, but that trade-off becomes less important once positioning is familiar.

Best for: Players who want safe range, strong single-target damage and a simple damage rotation.

Warlock

Ranged · starts with Shadow Bolt

Overall
S
First clear
B
Endgame
S
Warlock build guide

Warlock wins by stacking damage over time and letting demons add pressure. Once the key talents are online, damage can cascade from target to target and snowball through a pack.

The trade-off is control. Damage ramps later than Hunter or Mage, and survival depends on keeping enough distance for the damage effects to finish the job.

Best for: Players who enjoy spreading damage, managing demons and building toward a powerful late game.

Mage

Ranged · starts with Fireball

Overall
S
First clear
B
Endgame
S
Mage build guide

Mage has several strong damage paths. Fire can turn critical hits into extra pressure, Frost adds control, and area spells such as Blizzard and Flamestrike can erase dense groups.

The ceiling is high, but the safety margin is low. A Mage run rewards route knowledge and deliberate spacing more than forgiving mistakes.

Best for: Experienced players who want the quickest pack clear and can manage fragile positioning.

Paladin

Melee · starts with Consecration

Overall
A
First clear
S
Endgame
A
Paladin build guide

Paladin covers the mistakes that end early runs. Shields, self-healing, stuns and a death save create more chances to recover, while Consecration gives the class steady area damage.

The class can still clear quickly with a focused Retribution or Protection plan, but it is not the best choice when raw speed is the only goal.

Best for: New players, unfamiliar stages and runs where finishing matters more than speed.

Warrior

Melee · starts with Cleave

Overall
A
First clear
B
Endgame
A
Warrior build guide

Warrior combines high health with Cleave, Whirlwind and several direct damage tools. A Fury or Bladestorm route can keep pressure on a pack without demanding precise aim.

Its main risks are unavoidable: the class must stand in melee and has no built-in healing. It is the best melee choice for most players, not the easiest class overall.

Best for: Players who want a durable melee character and forgiving crowd damage.

Shaman

Hybrid · starts with Lightning Bolt

Overall
A
First clear
A
Endgame
A
Shaman build guide

Shaman has more than one viable route. Chain Lightning rewards tight packs, while the current Enhancement tools turn Stormstrike and weapon effects into a fast melee-proc pattern.

The strength is flexibility, not a single unbeatable number. Choose the route based on the stage and keep the talent tree focused rather than mixing every idea.

Best for: Players who like adapting the damage plan to the pack and enjoy totem or proc-based play.

Priest

Ranged · starts with Smite

Overall
B
First clear
A
Endgame
B
Priest build guide

Power Word: Shield, Fade and fear give Priest several ways out of a bad position. Shadow Word: Pain can carry damage through a pack when the route is built around spread.

The class is rarely the quickest choice. It is a good pick when stability matters and a poor fit when every second of clear speed matters.

Best for: Players who value shields, fear and a controlled pace over the fastest clear.

Druid

Hybrid · starts with Wrath

Overall
A
First clear
S
Endgame
B
Druid build guide

Druid can root threats, heal through pressure and switch into forms for health or melee damage. That variety makes it one of the most forgiving classes before the route is learned.

Its speed is more dependent on the chosen plan. Balance routes handle packs well, while Feral routes add stability but usually trade some clear speed.

Best for: Players who want a smooth first clear, self-healing and a choice between caster and animal forms.

Rogue

Melee · starts with Sinister Strike

Overall
B
First clear
C
Endgame
B
Rogue build guide

Rogue attacks quickly and can burst elites or bosses harder than most classes. Sinister Strike, Eviscerate and cooldown-based tools give the class a sharp, direct game plan.

The same plan exposes its weakness: Rogue must stay close, has few defensive options and loses control quickly when surrounded. It is a specialist pick, not a safe default.

Best for: Experienced players who know the map, can kite and want strong elite damage.

How to read these grades

There is no official Azeroth Survivors tier list. There is also no public win rate or equal-gear DPS benchmark. These grades are an editorial assessment of the current class kits and the practical choices each class asks a player to make.

First clear weighs healing, shields, range and recovery from mistakes. Endgame weighs pack damage, boss burst and the speed of a familiar route. Overall balances both and penalizes a class that is strong in only one context.

A class can therefore be excellent for one job and only average for another. Use the grades as a starting point, then open the class guide to compare the actual skill, talent and gear choices.

S

Exceptional for this job

A clear advantage that changes how the run feels.

A

Strong with a trade-off

Reliable, but one weakness keeps it below the best fit.

B

Situational

Useful when the playstyle or specific stage fits.

C

Specialist

A high-risk pick that needs route knowledge and careful play.

What this list can and cannot tell you

It can tell you

  • Hunter, Warlock and Mage have the strongest endgame damage plans, with different safety levels.
  • Paladin and Druid are the most forgiving choices for a first clear.
  • Warrior is the most reliable melee class for players who do not want a fragile route.
  • Rogue has strong burst but is a specialist pick because its survival margin is the smallest.

It cannot tell you

  • Which class will produce the highest damage with every possible item and talent combination.
  • How a future patch will change the balance.
  • Which class matches your preferred movement, aim or risk level.
  • That a lower grade class cannot clear the game or suit an experienced player better.

Bottom line: choose Paladin or Druid for the smoothest first clear, Mage or Hunter for fast farming, and Warrior if you want the safest melee route. Warlock has a higher damage ceiling than either defensive pick, but it asks for more patience and control.
